Located at 26-30 Hillsdon Road, Taringa 4068. We're a small funky group of character listed shops nestled in the leafy western suburbs of Brisbane. The centre was originally one tiny shop back in the early 1930's. Purchased and developed by the local Roger/Andronicos family in the 1940's. Today it is a unique mix of business and green space. Owned by the Sexton Family since 1994. Come down, relax, grab a coffee, enjoy the Courtyard gardens. To contact the new Hillsdon Grocer 3371 7250

Cafe's give suburbs a kick start
Did you read the The Australian newspapers article in the weekend paper talking about how Cafe's are now giving suburbs a kick start?
Apparently the signs show 'While schools and transport links are still crucial factors in property purchases, in certain areas caffeine provides not just a jolt to the circulatory system but also pushes up property prices' “The opportunity for better lifestyle, which could include the addition of a good quality coffee shop, would definitely have an increase in interest of people buying in an area,” Century 21's Charles Tarbey says.
In Brisbane, agents say the cafe culture has well and truly made up ground in the past 10 years and is thriving, especially in South Brisbane and West End.
Well, we've always know at Hillsdon Road Centre that a great mix of quality tenants, well maintained grounds and a Cafe/Coffee venue has always made locals happy. For 20 years, the local hub has always been busier and thriving when locals and friends could meet in our courtyard for a catch up.

Corner Store promoting it's heritage
Our lovely new owners Kim and Peter of the Corner Store have taken the classic old photo from the 1930's and enlarged it on to a board. Everyone can now enjoy this fabulous photo of the Centre's heritage.
And look for the lady walking down the dirt road on Goldsbrough Road.
If you have any old photo's, stories, clippings about the Centre. Please contact us and let us know. We would love to find out more and share it with our wonderful local residents.

Looking for history and photos
We love our little Centre and love hearing the old stories from long time locals and residents in the area. So, I am hoping to find more history, photo's names and stories of the origin of Hillsdon Road shops. We know about the point of time when the Roger's family purchased the shops around the time of the war. However, we believe from a local that the shops were built in the early 1930's.
So if any of you hear, know or have some old historical details on the Centre, please contact us. We are wanting to do up a Historical Community Board on one of the exterior walls.
Here's the only 'old' photo we have.

Abode Cafe's review in the Sunday Mail
Check out today's Sunday Mail, U magazine if you haven't already for the review on our own Abode Cafe.
A great little write up about a great little space, located in the garden courtyard and winning the hearts of locals. So pop in and meet Bron and her friendly team of staff. Definately try something to eat and maybe takeaway a made-on-site jam or relish!!
Open: Wednesday - Mondays 7am -3 pm.
